Did you get a good night’s sleep?

A full house at Neal’s Yard Beauty Sleep Eve last Thursday in Bath.

It was all about a good night’s sleep last Thursday whether switching off from a hectic and stressful day, looking at postural tension and pain, over-active imaginations or anxiety about the coming day. Essential oils were blended, Bach Flower Remedies were mixed, fruit and veg were juiced, herbs were infused and treatments were received. The result: some very relaxed customers! We hope you got a good night’s sleep.

If you enjoyed the juice, you can make it at home by juicing

1 pineapple, 1 celery, bag of green grapes and half a lettuce. This is a green juice that can help you to feel sleepy due to it’s lettuce content.

There are many ways to break negative or difficult sleep patterns. Essential oils are great because they are so versatile. You can inhale them, use them in a body oil, in a bath or a foot bath,  in a shower gel to name just a few ways.

Here are some of my favourite essential oil recipes. If you are making a 1oml blend (1 tablespoon of oil/milk) add a total of 4 essential oil drops of any of the combinations below. For more information on blends do email me a query.

For anxiety and fearfulness:

  •  1 Neroli, 1 pettigrain and  2 orange. This could be a great blend for children too who could be experiencing nightmares.
  • 1 Roman Chamomile, 2 Lavender and 1 Mandarin is also a gentle relaxing oil for children.
  • 1 Rose, 1 Geranium, 1 Lavender and 1 Neroli to be comforting and healing after a difficult day. To promote a  sense of letting go and balancing moods and emotions.

For a racing mind:

  • 1 Melissa, 1 Patchouli, 1 Lavender and 1 Bergamot to help slow the heart if palpitations and over thinking. Good for grief and sadness. A grounding blend also.

For  lightness and happy perspective with others

  • 1 drop of each Vetivert, Clary Sage, Jasmine and Bergamot.

In the morning

  • 2 Grapefruit, 1 lemongrass and 1 lavender – try in your shower gel to wake up well, feel refreshes, uplifted and calm.
